About the REDI Centre

The REDI Centre is a community resource hub located in the heart of Redditch.

We are dedicated to the development of young people and run various youth sessions and activities for those who face particular challenges and those who just want a safe space to be themselves, whether that be in a  group session or 1-1, we always adapt to the young persons needs.

The REDI Centre is a place where anyone can meet to learn new skills or socialise, and this is not just limited to the youth of Redditch! We run activities for ALL age groups!

We also offer affordable room hire with a variety of different size rooms, available for one off events and regular bookings. We offer a warm, safe, welcoming environment for everyone.

We have recently had a complete refurbishment including a new Café courtesy of the National Community Lottery Fund. The Centre is now a fully accessible building with a ‘Changing Place’ for those less able.

Our Values

RYCE has a set of core values that define how we work with our community. These were developed in consultation with our members, and underpin all of our activities.

Inclusivity and Respect

RYCE is an accepting, welcoming and encouraging organisation that celebrates the diversity of the local community, and recognises that we are strongest when we learn from each other and work together.

Empowerment and Creativity

RYCE exists to create new opportunities for people in the community, individually and collectively. We provide resources to enable people to put their ideas into practice, and support to develop new skills to maximise their success.

Partnership and Enterprise

RYCE believes in the strength of working co-operatively with other organisations. We aim to create an enterprising environment where people work together to find creative ways to strengthen our community.

Sustainability and Resilience

RYCE believes that we will be most successful in gaining the confidence of the community and partner organisations when we can demonstrate the ability to be a durable environment in uncertain times.

Quality and Integrity

RYCE is committed to delivering a quality service to individuals and partner organisations, which improve the quality of life in our community. We take pride in providing a friendly welcome, a safe and well-maintained environment, and affordable resources.

Friendliness and Fun

RYCE believes in the importance of having fun. Communities are built on shared positive experiences, and networks built during the good times are what keep us strong through the bad. We believe we are better placed to provide support services because we also provide entertainment and fun. Where our work involves supporting people to overcome life’s challenges, our aim will be to give them the confidence that they are not alone, support to access the best services to meet their needs, and to put a smile on their face.

History

In 2012 a group of like-minded people formed into a pressure group with the aim of trying to stop the closure of youth facilities by the County Council.

The original Redditch Youth House was sold, but Redditch Youth & Community Enterprise (RYCE) was able to negotiate with the local authority a short “Meanwhile” 6-month lease on an unused nearby building at the rear of the Youth House – The REDI Centre. From that small group of individuals having a strong desire to provide facilities for the young of the locality and other parts of the town the REDI Centre once again became alive.

The REDI Centre has always been part of the community, with the main building dating back to Victorian times. When Redditch Youth & Community Enterprise took over the building in 2012, we decided to keep the longstanding name and continue to be the beating heart of the community.
